Studio Olafur Eliasson: the Kitchen

Studio Olafur Eliasson: the Kitchen

When work has a significant effect on us, inspiring us to excel as designers and people, we believe it deserves to be shared with the world. Not only does it allow others to benefit from it as we did, but we feel a duty to give back to the work. Studio Olafur Eliasson’s the Kitchen, a cookbook that outlines the intersection of gastronomy, art, and design at Eliasson’s studio in Berlin, is one such work.

With recipes that resulted from the studio’s culinary gatherings of people of various creative backgrounds, the Kitchen challenges us to defy the boundaries around disciplines and treat everything around us with curiosity and innovative vigour. Gastronomy, science, activism, visual art, philosophy, poetry, and design—among other things—blend into one another organically, as if they’re all essential parts of the same pursuit of playing an active and constructive role in the world. More than just a book of recipes, the Kitchen is a manual for societal and cultural engagement.
